3 Modern Ways To Wear Blue Eyeshadow

Emily Ratajkowski

Blue eye shadow is right on trend at the moment with thanks to the gorgeous makeup look that was created by celebrity makeup artist Hung Vanngo on Emily Ratajkowski for the 2016 Emmy Awards. Not only was this trend seen on Emily but it was seen quite a lot on the 2016 Spring /Summer runway in New York and Milan.

I personally love the look of a bold eyeshadow on the red carpet and think for a special evening blue eyeshadow applied in the correct way can be worn modern and look wearable, as long as the hair is kept simple and paired with soft and subtle makeup (all the focus should be on the eyes). There are many different ways you can wear blue eyeshadow now and I think that the way blue eyeshadow is applied at the moment has come a long way from the famous (kinda scary) matte blue eyeshadow from the past, it has become much more wearable with thanks to the new technology and textures available in makeup.

A cream eyeshadow such Gerard Cosmetics in Revelation Eyeshadow Periwinkle Blue is super easy to apply and quick to blend that provides a soft modern blue shade that can also be multi purpose and act as a base for a more intense colour or applied on its own for a softer look. When using a cream eye shadow blend all over the eyelid with an eye shadow brush and along your lash line for a soft hue of blue and for a more intense look apply a blue eyeshadow over the top of the cream to lock in the colour and make that blue pop.

If the thought of wearing a vivid blue eyeshadow all over  your eyes is out of the question for you then a blue eye liner is a great alternative to add a hint of colour that still looks ultra modern. Rimmel Colour Precise Eyeliner in Blue gives you a precise line, bold colour that is long-lasting. Just use it the same way you would use a black eyeliner only focus it on the top eyelid only. Wearing blue eyeliner still gives your eyes definition and is a great alternative to black that looks great on all eye colours. There are so many eye liner variations for a paired back look wear a navy blue and for a colour pop wear a bright teal.

If you are a bit concerned about wearing a blue eye shadow on its own and think that it may be too bright then blending with another eyeshadow will tone down the colour and make the look a lot more wearable .You can make your eyeshadow less of a statement by blending a warm neutral shade into your eye crease and under your lash line. Not only will this tone down your eyeshadow look but it will also enhance the dimension and contour of your eyes without being too over the top.
